Terry Schalow - Executive Director

TerrySchalowTerry Schalow started with the Running Industry Association in January 2016 as Executive Director.  Prior to joining the RIA, Terry was on the brand side with ASICS. From his first job as a specialty run sales rep, to roles as specialty run sales manager, performance footwear product line manager, and specialty sales brand director, Terry's entire career has focused on the specialty run channel.  A lifelong running enthusiast, Terry lives in Encinitas California with his wife Michelle and son Jackson.    

 

 

 

Jodi Barthold -  Financial Services

JodiBartholdThe Cruise Group is a San Diego-based accounting and business consulting firm whose focus is helping business owners and organizations achieve their visions. Jodi is a Certified Profit First Professional and an experienced entrepreneur. She as over 30 years of experience as an Accountant and she's been a self-employed entrepreneur since 1995. She has founded multiple companies, including a forward-thinking online magazine, a foreign real estate company and a language services business. When Jodi is off the clock, she enjoys walking her dogs with her husband, spending time with her mother and visiting her two sons, who are studying art and Mechanical Engineering, in France.

 

 

 

 

 

Shawna Cruise -  Financial Services

The Cruise Group is a San Diego-based accounting and business consulting firm whose focus is helping business owners and organizations achieve their visions. Shawna is a Certified Profit First Professional and an experienced entrepreneur. She opened her first business in 1998 and spent the next 20 years honing her skills in leadership and organizational processes while creating a dynamic employee culture. She is a very community conscious entrepreneur and has served on numerous non-profit boards and fundraising committees. To recharge her batteries, Shawna enjoys travel, photography, food & wine, camping, hiking, and kayaking with family and friends.

Rachel Hadley - Marketing and PR

Rachel is a veteran brand and marketing strategist with almost 20 years of experience working with Colorado companies, following her graduation from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Advertising. She specializes in helping organizations define their identity and goals – then translating key information into strategic plans, messaging platforms, and campaigns. Known as an expert project manager, she has a track record for implementing projects on time and on budget.  Rachel’s value for giving back is evident as she is a volunteer mountain bike coach for the Aspen High School, and a board member of The Roaring Fork Center for Community Leadership where she is actively building a youth leadership program.

 

 

 

 

Traci Kindred Schalow - Graphic Design

TraciKindredShawlowTraci is a community-minded graphic designer based in Ridgway, Colorado. She graduated from the University of Washington School of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design in 1986. She has a worked as graphic designer for 30+ years serving in roles as art and creative director as well as lead designer with several agencies throughout Colorado. Traci creates meaningful graphic design for a wide range of sectors including non-profit and small business, outdoor sports industry, tourism, the environment, technology and event promotions throughout the United States. Working with the RIA fits right into the type of an organization Traci enjoys working with - those that serve the community and keep small business afloat. “I gain inspiration from the mountains where I live, work and play. Winters, I spend my free time skiing the San Juan Mountain backcountry and in the summer doing just about everything that involves trail and dirt."

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monica Langfeldt - Corporate Counsel

Monica Langfeldt of Langfeldt Law, PLLC specializes in representing non-profits with their business and tax-exempt needs. The remainder of her practice is focused on small businesses and individual business transactions. Monica is a former standout middle distance runner at University of Idaho, and maintains an active lifestyle from her home base in Seattle.

 

 

 

Brian Metzler,  Newsletter Editor

Boulder, Colo.-based journalist Brian Metzler was the founding editor and associate publisher of Trail Runner and Adventure Sports magazines, was a senior editor at Running Times and the editor-in-chief of Competitor. He has edited and co-written several books, including "The Fast-Track Triathlete" by Matt Dixon and "Run Like a Champion" by Alan Culpepper, and also written about endurance sports for Outside, Runner’s World, Triathlete, Inside Triathlon, Men’s Health, and Men’s Journal. He has run more than 90,000 miles in his life, tested more than 1,500 pairs of running shoes, raced every distance from 50 yards to 100 miles, completed the Leadman endurance series in Leadville, Colo., finished four Ironman triathlons and raced in numerous pack burro races. He was named a USATF Contributor of the Year in 2013 and inducted into the Colorado Running Hall of Fame in 2015.

 

 

 

Tina Roper - IT and Communications

TinaRoperPrior to joining the RIA in 2011, Tina held senior-level communications positions at Fortune 100 companies in the financial services and insurance industries. With 25+ years experience in the technology sector, Tina has also worked as Project Manager for large scale website implementations, Technical Programmer of e-learning modules and Content Developer for online platforms. More recently she has served in her local community as a certified Social Marketing Consultant, helping non-profit organizations and small businesses creatively strategize brand management and online marketing. Tina is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering and of Florida Southern College with a BS in Natural Sciences. Tina is a Florida native and spends her spare time hiking, exploring nature and enjoying her two special needs rescue dogs.
