RIA Member Services Manager

This role works closely with -and reports to- the RIA Executive Director, with cross-functional work and reporting to the RIA board of directors. The role is designed to accomplish two main tasks:  To grow and maintain RIA membership, and to take some pressure off ED role via decision making capabilities within the scope of the Role Objectives.   

This role is targeted toward an individual who is passionate about the run specialty industry, and is interested in learning more about how the channel works.  It is also well suited toward an industry veteran who wants to work less but stay involved. 

Part Time Role

  • Minimum 20-25 hours per week to start, with potential to grow into full time role 
  • Pay scale - $25-30 per hour

Experience Required

Minimum 3 years working in the Run Specialty Channel, preferably with a member organization

 Membership Management

  • Amplify membership management automation through CIVI
  • Identify new member opportunity and engage in personal sales
  • Generate protocols for renewals
  • Conduct annual member reviews based on engagement metrics
  • Understand needs and wants of members via regular personal contact
  • Put system in place to notify ED when direct member outreach is necessary
  • Recapturing Lapsed Members – work through a process to get them back on board
  • Manage on-boarding and re-boarding process
  • Benefit reviews with current members and benefit removal when a member leaves 
  • Account Maintenance: reset passwords, update emails, etc. 

Marketing and Communications 

  • Develop, maintain, and make adjustments to seasonal comms plans
  • Market RIA Summit, PDC, and other RIA benefits
  • Oversee Pulse newsletter and member communication 
  • Manage social media 
  • Gain skill set necessary to use RIA CRM communications tools 

Project Management

  • Compile relevant online research without explicit guidance
  • Develop insights that are actionable, goal-oriented, and provide unique project orientation
  • Communicate project to ED/Board and gain approvals
  • Clearly define Project ROI and deliverables to RIA team
  • Communicate progress to RIA team along set timelines
  • Evaluate project execution 

Data Base Optimization

  • Ensures data base is optimized for general operations or clean, actionable data
  • Core of operations are based on membership and events
    • Primarily includes emails on membership renewals and event promotions, and general marketing
    • Focus on keeping data clean and refreshed for efficient communications/usability. Taking corrective action as required, for example, when bad data is encountered

Presentation Skills

  • Add incremental insights to a meeting, call, or presentation
  • Be able to successfully deliver a sizable portion of a final presentation
  • Collaborate with prospects, partners, and colleagues to generate excitement and buy-in to RIA initiatives
  • Overcome challenges during a presentation and turn objections into deeper understanding

Strategic Execution

  • Take an approved strategy, and with ED and Board engagement, bring it to life
  • Proactively identify and solve problems that emerge in the midst of an initiative
  • Keep project team focused, on-task

Relationship Building

  • Create and maintain an authentic relationship with members
  • Understand the issues and market forces that are important to members
  • Offer meaningful off-the-cuff advisement to a member
    • Provide valuable insights to members in the midst of a conversation
  • Be able to engage in thoughtful and insightful conversations with members about any part of their business

 Growing in the Job

  • Form and nurture relationships with business partners from middle management to C-suite
  • Be able to lead a room of any size and in any context
    • Present to the C-suite (retailers and brands) to create trust and maintain partnerships
  • Form network of informed insight partners to identify opportunities and inform strategy
