62 Days After Devastating Tornado, Rock City Running Reopens in New Location

Published on | William Bulloch | News & Updates

On May 15, the Little Rock Roadrunners presented a $57,000 check to Rock City Running. The $57,000 was the total from 612 donations that came from 45 states and four different countries.  The support provided to Rock City Running in the aftermath of the tornado has been amazing!

Rock City Running reopened Thursday, June 1, only two short months after the tornado. It wouldn't have been possible without the generosity and support of everyone who donated and participated in the Run to Rebuild Rock City. Rock City Running, Bill Torrey, his wife Carol, and all the store employees thank everyone who donated and made this possible!

The store's new location is in the Market Place Shopping Center at 11121 N. Rodney Parham Road, Suite 37B. The big celebration of the store's reopening and the store's 10-year anniversary was held on Saturday, June 3.  The celebration began at 6 a.m. with a Little Rock Marathon training group run from the store and continued throughout the day with food and specials.

Founded in 2013, Rock City Running is family owned, serving customers in the running/walking community. RCR is Little Rock’s local running store, specializing in active and casual footwear, apparel, and accessories for men and women. With a combined 73 years of knowledge, RCR delivers a first-class shopping experience.

Coinciding with the reopening of Rock City Running registration opened for the 2024 Capital City Classic. Registration for the race can also be made online at https://runsignup.com/Race/AR/LittleRock/CapitalCityClassic10K. The race will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, which will be almost exactly one year from the tornado that devastated the store and resulted in the cancellation of the highly anticipated 2023 race.
