With 2020 being a banner year for footwear sales due to the pandemic induced gym closures, Q1 2021 is showing a 11% decline in total sales yet a 5% increase in average price. Notable is that February 2020 was the highest unit sales in more than a year. Apparel as a category has picked up a bit as we moved into 2021, up 25% YTD over 2021, although the volume of sales is still rather low. Overall individual buying patterns, and thus the channel, are slowly getting to a new homeostasis. The good news is with an increase in runners and walkers in 2020 there is optimism for continued growth for run specialty.
