Strategic Planning Update

Published on | Jess Reid | News & Updates

Greetings! I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share some of the projects that we, as a board, are working on behind the scenes, specifically our strategic plan for 2025. We spent our board meeting in Atlanta diving deep into the opportunities and challenges that require our attention this year. We then spent time processing the content that came from that session and finalized a master plan in one of our monthly Zoom meetings. The members of our board are eager to start this meaningful work! The idea of “strategic planning” may elicit feelings of boredom or tediousness, but this is far from the truth for our strategic plan and our energized board members who are putting in the work to build a community that you value.

What emerged from our productive time together in Atlanta are the projects that our subcommittees will start working on right now, with the long term goal of growing our organization and making improvements. For example, our Events and Education Committee will be working on adding value and dynamism to our Strategic Huddles. An organization like ours is composed of members who are scattered across the country, and we only have two opportunities during the year to connect in person. Because of this dynamic, we envision that our Huddles will become an integral part of our mission to connect on a personal level and provide meaningful opportunities for member-to-member collaboration. Sign up for the next round of Huddles focused on Staffing and Organization Planning here.  In addition, we wasted no time after a successful 2025 Summit and began work immediately to ensure that the RIA Summit 2026 is even better. We can’t wait to implement the feedback from this year to make our time together even richer next year.

Our Marketing & Communications Committee will be tackling Member Enrichment, focusing on strategies to engage regularly and provide a richer value to the RIA experience.  The RIA's goal is to cultivate specific improvements to every layer of our communications, both internally as a board and externally to our members and other stakeholders. The MarCom committee will also implement tactics for recruiting new stores to our organization.

The RIA Board brings immense energy, enthusiasm, and work ethic to these projects. It is a privilege to do this work on behalf of our members, but we relish this opportunity to share some of the projects we are tackling in an effort to serve you and to bring our organization to new levels in 2025. Our members are the heart and soul not only of our organization, but of the entire running industry. Your engagement with the RIA is the primary way we create value for all members, and we look forward to sharing our progress.
