Summit Session Selection - Ready, Set, aaaand…

Published on | Josh Gowans | News & Updates

RIA Summit session registration is right around the corner! If you’re headed to the Summit, you need to get ready for it. This post outlines the first step in the process: downloading, testing and understanding RIA Connect.

Step 1: Make certain your login to the RIA website is working

First and foremost, if you have any issues or questions about RIA Connect or anything technical related to the RIA, email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The RIA website is the central hub for all things related to the RIA, including your own user account authentication. By now, you should have a username and password that provide you access to a member’s only portion of the site.

The credentials you use for the RIA website are the same credentials you use for RIA Connect. So, if for some reason they aren’t working on the website, they won’t work on the app.

Important! Your credentials should be unique to you! If you share an email account with one or multiple people, this will NOT work for session registration. Another email will have to be connected to your account. If you need to change/add just This email address is being protected from spambots. Sometimes things go wrong with technology. Here are some common reasons for your credentials not working:

  1. You haven’t created an account. Go here if you have not yet created an account. You will receive an activation email. It does go to spam sometimes, so please check there.
  2. You’ve lost your username. You can recover your username here.
  3. You’ve lost your password. You can recover your password here.
  4. You’ve attempted and failed too many logins and now you’re locked out. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Step 2: Download RIA Connect

Once you have your credentials working and you’re feeling good, head over to the Play Store or Apple Store to download RIA Connect.

Important! We’ve made several updates to the app. You must use the latest version, so if you have the app already installed, please ensure that it is up to date.

Once installed, log in using your credentials. Sometimes the app throws this weird “API error”. You can ignore and move past it. You can view all of the available sessions, however registering for them may not be open yet as we're putting some finishing touches on the app and on the sessions.

Step 3: Get up to speed on the Summit and on session selection

Additional information will be present on the RIA website via your Retailer Summit Dashboard. This includes logistical info such as travel, hotel, local attractions, schedule overview, etc. Much of these information will also be present under the "News" section of RIA Connect. Don't worry, we'll have a quick how-to on that as well.

You should log in to the RIA site, then take the link to the Retailer Summit Dashboard, and become familiar with all things Summit related. We'll publish new resources and tutorials there shortly.

One item to pay particular attention to is how to use RIA Connect for session scheduling. You can access that from your Member Portal dashboard (in the ‘How To Guides’ section) or from the Retailer Summit Dashboard. Again, this will be coming online shortly.

It’s very important that you familiarize yourself with the app as you’re in control of your session selection. All sessions have limited seating, and top to tops are all one on one, so do not wait until the last minute to nail down your schedule, so stay tuned.

Please note, your phone/app will adjust for your current time zone when you register, when you arrive at the Summit it will then convert to the local time (Central Time).

If you have any technical issues at all, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will respond as quickly as we can.
